Hello, my little friend.

Looked like a rubber snake.

Felt like a rubber snake.

However, it did not smell like a rubber snake....or taste like a rubber snake.

We swept this out from under a book shelf I moved out of the boys room the other day. It looked like a little toy snake, the kind you try to scare your sisters with when you were a kid...
My MIL told me it was real, and I was bening it and touching it. Then I noticed it was shedding it's eye shells (we had a snake once, so I know they shed their shells), right at the time the smell of the thing reached my nostrils. I proceeded to wash my hands and then put it in a bag for Elliot to take to school, but it smells really bad, so we just tossed it.
Then I washed my hands again and again and again for good measure.
What I'd love to know is how it got in to the house and why he wasn't eating our mice.

So... are there more???? Isn't that always what we think!?! I don't know how anxious Mom will be to show up to Bible Study at your house now. Marx's had a snake get out of its terrarium one time when Davy was in the hospital. For awhile we wondered when we'd see it slither in.
It does seem like a pretty little snake to be eating mice, but I guess you can't tell in a picture how big it really was.
What kind was it?

Oh, Amber, that is absolutely disgusting. You would've heard me scream all the way at your house, had I found that thing....even if it was a toy one.

So, I don't get it...was it alive or was it just the snake skin? Either way, this story gives me the willies. Yuck, yuck, yuck.

By the way...do you have a woodstove? The reason I ask is that when I was growing up, we had a woodstove, so we had a "wood chute" where we would toss the wood into (you know...head outside, fill up the sled with wood from the garage, drag it to the chute and toss it in). Well, one summer, a few garder snakes found an opening in that wood chute and they came into the house! We found two that summer. Talk about a yucky experience.

I still have the chills over this. Yuck!!

I would honestly have my first heart attack at the rip old age of 26, I pray that NEVER happens to me, I dont do well with things that creep, crawl and slither....AT ALL, You wont catch my feet on your floor while I am sitting on the couch for awhile...lol just kidding, but I promise it will cross my mind when I am their. So was that the snake skin it shedded or the actual snake? Cause if its the shedding, then where is the snake!!!! OMG, I am freaking out, I hate it when girls are so afraid of things that cannot hurt them, but I am one of those girls and I honestly cannot control it so I hear ya! I wish I wasnt such a baby but man, I have the willys!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Shelley: it is too small to eat mice, it was meant to be a joke. I'm hoping there are no more and your Mom isn't afraid to come for mtg...

Heather: Yep, a joke. Jason told me the reason it doesn't eat mice is because it's too small. NO...really?

Maggie: No idea, we have all sorts of snakes...meat are yellow and black.

Jen: It was a real live dead snake, not the skin, so heres to hoping it was the only one. We don't have a fireplace, so I have no clue how it got in.

Sam: Way beck before we were married Jaosn had a snake that I fed rats to. Now they Both give me the willies. I was really freaked out all the way home with the rats thinking that it would get out and be roaming around my car. I held hte snake but was sortof scared, now i'm plain terrified.

Heather: Elliot won't touch snakes...
