Talent show

Elliot did this trick on the monkey bars for the talent show. Everyone was a good sport and came outside to watch. He was really proud and so was I.

We thought the talent show was all over, and then they announced that they missed one. We had no idea that Brookelyn was going to be in it because she told us no, and then didn't tell us she changed her mind. The first picture is when she first went up to the front of the room. She seemed really nervous, and her friend told me that she was going to sing. She stood there for a few seconds, and I asked if she wanted me to sing one with her. She said nooo, like no one else's mom sang with them, and then her friend went up and said she'd start it with her. Of course, I was holding my breath because public speaking or singing is NOT my thing. We were all in suspense wondering what she would sing....I wish I'd had a video camera because it was so sweet what came out: "Oh, Christmas tree, oh Christmas tree, how evergreen your branches"...her voice was wavering and it was so cute I started to cry. The other little girl sang different words, and Brookelyn looked at her like "what?" and then she stopped singing and Brookelyn finished all but the last line. At that point, she looked up and noticed I was crying. After a short pause, the last line "how evergreen your branches" wavered out and she sat down. It was so cute and I was SO proud of her at that moment. Elliot was proud of her to, he was teary by the end.

Random family reunion stuff....

Brookelyn doesn't pose for pictures anymore, but if she's doing something she loves it's written all over her face.

Cuddle time with daddy

Trae on a mission
We took a lot of pictures of the kids swimming and stuff on our small camera....I haven't even looked at that disk yet. You'll have to use your imagination on those as I am getting really tired of waiting for pictures to post!

Horse back riding and feeding the ducks Saturday (after a round of golf)

The guys played a round of golf Saturday a.m. and then took the kids horse back riding and feeding the ducks while us girls went to a few thrift shops and a little strip mall. Elliot was happy to rise the horse, Brookelyn would only rise with Jason, but they had to talk her into it. We didn't score much shopping....Pam was the only one who bought anything...an orphan bear from the thrift store.

Hungry Horse

It's a tradition in the Baseman/Dykstra family to photograph the kids on this horse when they come to visit. I even got my picture taken on it when my family and Jason went out to visit 9 years ago!

Glacier Park, MT Friday, July 4, 2008

We went to Glacier Park on Friday. The park is really beautiful, it's hard to actually tell how awesome it is from the pictures. It took about 7-8 hours to drive to the top, eat lunch, and drive back down. We, of course, stopped to take pictures along the way.
***check out my photo journal for pictures of the scenery, I plan to post them sometime today. We'll see;)

I LOVE this picture of Elliot, it's just him.

Each of the kids got a bear from Jason's grandma and grandpa...Brookelyn kept hers pretty close. I love her messy hair in these pictures.

Elliot loved poking out through the sunroof and waving at people while we waited for the traffic to pass, as they are widening the road and it is one lane traffic in some spots. He was riding with Pam and Steve, so each time we got out, he'd tell us how many people waved to him.

Rainbow Trout fishing

As much as we'd love to say we caught trout this big in an actual lake, we have to admit that this was a trout farm. The guy who owns it also owns an assisted living complex and feeds the fish to the residents. He also raises buffalo and elk. He sells the fish for $4 a puond, and it was served for breakfast the next morning. The man would throw pellets in and we'd try to cast where he threw it. The fish would jump right out of the water to get the bait. It wasn't as easy as they made it sound, but it was fun. We did this a few hours after we got off the plane, and it was really hot. Trae slept in the truck almost the whole time, and didn't reel in a fish, but was content (for the most part, despite the heat) to watch.

heartburn has me awake:)
